Conference Venue

The IJCLR 2025 conference sessions will be at the Lecture Theatre (LT) Building at Stag Hill, University of Surrey.

Stag Hill is the main campus of the University of Surrey, situated close to Guildford train station and within a short walk of the town centre. Guildford is 30 miles south-west of London, located on the A3 London-Portsmouth road. The postcode for navigation to the University is GU2 7XH.

The nearest bus stop or taxi drop-off point for the LT building is Senate House. For directions from the main car park and Senate House to the LT building, please see this short video.

Local Accommodation

Due to high season, we strongly recommend booking your accommodations as soon as possible. Please also use the reservation websites (e.g., booking.com, Airbnb) in addition to the recommended hotels below.

Getting to the University of Surrey

Arriving at Heathrow Airport

RailAir coaches connect Guildford railway station with Heathrow Airport Terminal 5 and Heathrow Central Bus Station every hour. Alternatively, National Express coaches connect Woking station to Heathrow up to 18 times a day. Frequent trains run from Woking to Guildford (check schedules).

Arriving at Gatwick Airport

Gatwick station (South Terminal) provides direct trains to Guildford hourly from ~5:15am to 11pm (6am start Sundays). Check the National Rail website for details.

Arriving at London City Airport

London City Airport connects to the London Underground. Travel to London Waterloo, then take a direct train to Guildford.

Arriving at London Stansted Airport

Stansted trains/buses go to Liverpool Street Station, then transfer to Waterloo for trains to Guildford.

Arriving at London Luton Airport

Luton has bus/train links to central London. From there, continue to London Waterloo for a train to Guildford.

Arriving at London Waterloo Train Station

Direct South Western Railway trains run every 10–15 minutes to Guildford, taking 35–40 minutes.

Arriving at Guildford Train Station

Guildford is on the London Waterloo–Portsmouth line. Trains run half-hourly to London. National Rail provides details.

Getting to the University of Surrey from Guildford Station

  • Walking: ~10–15 minutes depending on destination. Use Google Maps.
  • Bus: Stagecoach runs the 1 and 17 routes between station and campus, ~6am–midnight (reduced service Sundays).
  • Taxi: Available at both station exits.

Arriving by Road from London

From London/M25 (J10), follow the A3 to the Cathedral/University exit. Do not follow Town Centre signs.

Arriving via A322 or A323

From Bagshot/Aldershot, join the A3 toward Portsmouth, then take the first exit (Cathedral/University).

Arriving via A281 or A3100

From Horsham (A281)/Godalming (A3100), exit toward Farnham (A31). Turn right onto Guildford Park Road, then follow Madrid Road and The Chase to the University entrance.

Taxis

A local taxi company is available via 0800 502250. The one-way journey to or from the town centre to Stag Hill will cost in the region of £6.00. Another option is also to use: https://www.guildford-taxi.co.uk/ for quotes and bookings.

Public transport from the town centre and railway station

Arriva buses serve the campus frequently throughout the day. Buses run every 10 minutes throughout the day until 8pm then a half hourly service until 10.45pm.

Car Parking and Cycling Facilities

Visitors may use pay-and-display parking or request a visitor permit. Please contact the conference organisers and they will provide you with a parking QR code. If you are using the conference parking QR code, you will need to use the spaces in the main carpark (please see the map above). Please do not park in the Pay & Display car park if you are using the conference parking QR code.

Bike parking facilities are available across campus, including the Guildford School of Acting, Senate House, and Duke of Kent Building. Beryl e-bikes can also be hired, with parking zones across Guildford and both Surrey campuses.
